Vernissage – Jonathan Renard

Jonathan Renard is a self-taught painter and muralist, born in Seraing in 1997.

His work draws on real-life experiences, encounters and the places he has travelled through, spanning Europe, Africa and Latin America, where he now lives and works. He has been particularly inspired by his involvement in projects in Greece and Lebanon.

Through painting, as well as writing and reflection, he develops an evolving practice, attentive to his relationship with others and the realities he encounters.

His works explore states of tension, transformation and presence, straddling the line between abstraction and fragments of reality.

Each canvas becomes a space of transition, where forms and colours transform and interact, in a quest for intensity rather than representation.
