Vernissage Juliette Van Dessel

YUST introduces its first new Antwerp artist of the year.

Juliette Van Dessel is a young visual artist from Antwerp, currently studying at Sint Lucas. Her work blends painting, collage, calligraphic ink, printmaking techniques and the marouflage of rice paper on canvas.

She draws inspiration from everyday life, human connections, domestic atmospheres and elements of nature. Cave paintings, rituals and repeating patterns, such as those found in tiles, tableware or textiles, form a visual and symbolic undercurrent in her work. Flowers and animals in motion become carriers of impermanence and time. Through layered materials and soft contrasts between figuration and abstraction, she captures fleeting moments, a quiet counter-movement in a fast-paced world.
